Abstract

The objective is to report a clinical case of treatment of gingival recession, through a surgical approach, with lateral flap and grafting of subepithelial connective tissue associated with the topical therapy using active oxygen gel. A patient with presence of Cairo RT1 gingival recession in tooth 42 caused by previous orthodontic treatment and gingival inflammation, presented aesthetic complaints,
hypersensitivity, presence of an inflammatory process and a thin periodontal phenotype. The treatment plan was to perform root coverage with a predictable surgical technique that also achieved the change in the periodontal phenotype. During the surgical procedure, a small fenestration of the flap occurred in the recipient bed in which the healing process was optimized with the use of oral gel (blue®m) with active oxygen release. It is concluded that the association of surgical techniques and the use of topical therapy with active oxygen was satisfactory to achieve clinical results with partial coverage in the treatment of gingival recession in the present case report.
